COWRIE 1 allocated over £450,000 to a total of six priority research projects. Five of these projects were completed by the end of 2005 and the sixth by the end of 2007. The active participation of steering group members in all aspects of the work programme was essential to the success of COWRIE 1.
The following projects were completed under COWRIE 1:
- Predicting the displacement of common scoter Melanitta nigra from benthic feeding areas due to offshore windfarms
- Marine Bird Survey Methodologies
- Best practice guidance for the use of remote techniques for observing bird behaviour in relation to offshore windfarms
- A baseline assessment of electromagnetic fields generated by offshore windfarm cables
- The potential effects of electromagnetic fields generated by sub-sea power cables associated with offshore windfarm developments on electrically and magnetically sensitive marine organisms - A review
