This green seaweed is commonly seen on the seashore all around Britain and Ireland.  It is often found in rock pools quite high up the shore and when these rock pools dry out, small animals sometimes hide inside gutweed to shelter and stay moist. Gutweed could be found near the surface of the water on turbines.
