Thornback ray

This ray can grow to over one metre long and gets its name from the thorns, which cover its back. They lie covered in sand during the day and feed at night on crabs, shrimps and some small fish.  Rays may be sensitive to electro magnetic fields produced by cables taking electricity ashore from the turbines.
