This Technical Working Group is responsible for:

  • providing technical environmental advice to the COWRIE Board;
  • identifying priority generic projects;
  • drafting outline project specifications and compiling tender lists;
  • interviewing potential contractors and awarding contracts; and
  • reviewing all outputs prior to publication and dissemination.

Many of the original members of the COWRIE 1 steering group were retained to form the basis of this Technical Working Group. Industry continues to play an important role. In recognition that the Round 2 offshore wind development programme is based on 3 strategic areas the industry advisors were selected by the Regional Developer Groups. Advisors from the Countryside Agencies and English Heritage were invited to join the group to represent landscape and maritime archaeological interests. The research remit of the group was expanded to include fisheries, shipping and navigation interests.
