COWRIE Seminar at the 27th BWEA Conference

The first COWRIE-sponsored environmental research seminar was held during the 27th BWEA Conference in Cardiff, on Wednesday 19th October 2005. It provided an update on COWRIE research into the environmental impacts of offshore wind energy developments, including the COWRIE environmental work programme, Data and Information Management, and the latest findings from studies into:

  • Predicting the displacement of common scoter due to offshore windfarms
  • The potential impacts of electromagnetic fields generated by offshore windfarm cables
  • Latest developments from the underwater noise and vibration project

Associated work programmes presented by invited speakers included updates on Research Advisory Group projects and progress reports on navigation studies.

The COWRIE Board and Environmental Working Group are most grateful to BWEA for hosting the seminar and for making this event accessible to the wider public.
